Every once in awhile, my church's youth group, OG, puts on a special night for all the teenagers across the island to gather and celebrate God together. I brought along my trusty LC-A+, and was not disappointed with some of the night-time shots!
New Hope Hawaii is one of the island’s largest churches, with locations that span across the different towns and cities. The main branch’s ministry center is in the Sand Island/Airport location, and the building has large rooms for gatherings, services, and activities. The area in itself is really industrial, but the church itself is really nice and well decorated.
Every so often, the OG youth group (OG stands for One Generation – which is meant to unite the youth together for the same cause) puts on a special night that is more extravagant with the decor, activities, and whatnot. The sermon is geared towards bringing in newer students to Jesus, and there are more special performances like hip hop dances. Not to mention, the worship and praise time is fantastic!
The theme for the last OG Night was “mustaches,” so at the door, we were all handed little mustaches to play and take cute pictures with. There were also photo-taking stations, with studio lights, backdrops, and little props like photo frames to play around with as the photographers took your picture. I opted out of doing that, in favor of using my own baby LC-A+.
We got to hang out in the huge parking lot that New Hope has, with mini tables set up, a basketball court in place, and tables of food! It was the ultimate hangout place.
OG Night was a fantastic place to catch up with friends I had not seen in a long time, since this event was geared towards getting people from all over the island to come and have fun. It’s always lovely to see my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ gather together for the some reason, to worship the King.
