My First Lomo Camera: The Fisheye 2

6

The Fisheye 2 camera is ready for playing and improvising, leaving room for creativity with shapes, distortions, and double exposures. It is a camera I highly recommend to start in the LomoWorld!

I was introduced to Lomography about three months ago, thanks to four friends who have the Diana Mini they bought on a trip to New York.

By then, I was curious about the analogue world: reels, not knowing how the photos come out, plastic cameras.. I was looking for something different, too since I though that the photos I took with my digital SLR were quite normal. So I chose the Fisheye 2. If you have creativity, this camera can be very well exploited.

I bought rolls of 400 ISO films and from the first reel, I was surprised to see how sharp the pictures came out. That round edge on the photo, I love it! My first reel was to try and take simple pictures, looking above the horizon and landscapes.

The other two reels I have dedicated to double exposures, animals, and friends. Some were overexposed and the double exposures didn’t go so well. Next time I’ll try to lower the ISO to 200.

Although I already have my eye on the Diana Mini, I think I still have a long relationship with this camera. It seems to be a highly recommended camera, I carry it along with my house keys.

Fisheye No. 2 has a 170-degree wide angle view and stunning barrel distortion. Now with a hotshoe and multiple and long exposure capabilities, the world’s greatest compact Fisheye camera is now more amazing than you ever thought possible! Available in different colours and special designs.

Lomography Fisheye No.2: Seven Years of Wonder

Exactly seven years ago, I bought this camera from Indonesia's local Lomography community. I remember having some savings in my bank account and just spending it all on this camera. At that time, I browsed the microsite for the Lomography Fisheye No.2 and immediately fell in love with it! Coincidentally, my friend who introduced me to Lomography just bought this same camera for his birthday. My life has changed ever since I had the Fisheye, my first lomographic camera.

    My Lomo’Instant Quick Tips

I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!

Fresh from My Darkroom: The First Game of the New Rugby Season

Last Sunday, the local rugby team Rugby Como played the first match of the 2014-1025 season. Rugby is my favorite sport to photograph, and for some years I've been documenting almost every home match of this young team. This time I used a 1959 Zorki 5 camera with a vintage 1958 Industar-50 lens loaded with a timeless film, the Ilford HP5+ developed in a century-old developer, the mythical Rodinal. Take a look after the jump!
