Lomography Canada Presents: Two and a Quarter

1

We are pleased to present Two and a Quarter this May, as part of the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival in Toronto! This group exhibition highlights the creativity possible within the square image. Each artist has created their own unique and imaginative image with the classic Diana F+ camera. Come to the Lomography Gallery Store Toronto to experience this exhibit, along with Diana F+ inspired events and workshops that will definitely open your eyes to the world of analogue photography!

Shooting square was inspired by the plastic point-and-shoot cameras of the past, such as the classic Diana that used film for which Two and a Quarter is the aspect ratio of the exposure area. The original Diana, a camera of the 1960’s, captivated us with its beautiful, lo-fi images and was reborn as the Lomography Diana F+ in 2007. It is a simple, plastic medium format camera that has inspired a global community of fans through its original charms. It is these charms that are intrinsically associated with analogue photography—aged, exposure flaws, soft focus and light leaks. The artists in this exhibit explored and created their own unique and imaginative images with the Lomography Diana F+ camera. Two and a Quarter highlights the creativity possible within the square image and to embrace the analogue quality of photographic processes that continue to resonate in the modern world today.

During the month of May, the Lomography Gallery Store Toronto will be hosting a series of Photo-walks and Gallery Hops to neighbouring galleries that too are exhibiting contemporary photography. Also, get ready for fun and interactive Square Workshops where you will learn the insides and outs of our square format cameras. Learn how to create your own amazing square images with the Diana F+ and also with the luxurious Lubitel. Come into the store and witness the power the Diana F+ has through our exhibition and walk out with knowledge and know-how to create your own stunning images!
