Cycling on the runway! How cool is that? The National Runway Cycling and Skating (NRWCS) takes place at the usually out-of-bounds Paya Lebar Air base. It is a yearly event jointly organized by SAFRA National Service Association (SAFRA) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
Either you’re up for some stiff competition or prefer to cycle for leisure, this extraordinary mass cycling-cum-inline skating event provides a great opportunity for enthusiasts to enjoy the sport they love at a unique location.
If you’re not in the mood to sweat it all out on a relaxing Sunday, there are other activities that provide fun for the whole family. It can also an eye-opener to see an interesting array of bicycles.
If the bikes don’t impress you, located alongside is the Air Force Museum. Here, you’ll get to feast your eyes on aircraft armament and air defense artillery including the Bloodhound Missile and even aircraft engines like the Rolls Royce Bristol Viper. The exhibition area comprises mainly the outdoor gallery, a total of eight indoor galleries and the history of aviation gallery.
