The LandMark of Macau! You cant say you've been to Macau, if you were not able to set foot in the famous Senado Square and took a picture with a background of the fountain. All the events and happenings are most likely staged here. Its a historical tourist spot, not to be missed!
Senado Square is around the Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. It was said to be constructed in 1918 linking Praia Grande with the inner harbour, and passing through the old “Christian quarter” and “Chinatown”.
Senado Square has always been the city centre up to now. Whatever time it may be, it will always be full of people since it houses a lot of commercial stores, restaurants and most of all souvenir shops. Not only that, Leal Senado building, Post Office Building, Santa Casa da Misericórdia, St. Dominic Church, St. Paul Ruins and the temple behind it, Na Tcha Temple are within the vicinity of Senado Square. (Many tourist spot in one location)
Better gear up your lomo cameras upon reaching this place. I’m sure you’ll be amazed as I am, on how the Portuguese influence on structures were preserved. The special western designed buildings, neo-classical theme, its flooring of wave-patterned mosaic of colored stones and the friendly people made it a very memorable experience for me.
Macau is definitely more than a casino place, its full of history and culture both from the East and the West.
