No ano passado, eu tirei umas longas férias e fui para uma das regiões produtoras de vinho menos conhecidas da Califórnia.
A maioria das pessoas sabe que Napa Valley e Sonoma são regiões produtoras de vinho da Califórnia, mas apenas um pouco mais ao norte está o Condado de Lake. A região é composta principalmente por montanhas e vales que circundam o lago Clear, maior lago de água doce da Califórnia. O solo vulcânico, a brisa do Oceano Pacífico, as temperaturas amenas com ciclo vegetativo longo, a água disponível e a umidade se combinam para criar uma das melhores condições vinícolas do mundo. Há produtores de vinho em quase todas as cidades ao redor do lago e a maioria deles tem provas disponíveis – algumas até são gratuitas! Tivemos a oportunidade de provar muitos dos melhores vinhos do mundo a poucos passos de distância de onde as uvas foram cultivadas. O tempo estava fantástico, e os vinhos, é claro, eram excelentes. Armed with disposable cameras, a number of people affected by homelessness in London trooped out in the streets and captured life from their individual perspectives. That was in July; now, 13 photographs have been selected via public vote and will be featured on the upcoming calendar by Cafe Art, an initiative that "[showcases] artwork created by people affected by homelessness or are socially vulnerable."
