Black and White Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands is one of the most iconic buildings in modern Singapore. Located at Marina Bay, and featuring three skyscrapers joint at the top by a sky park, it has become the latest go-to location in town. Read on to see it in black and white!

Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort developed by Las Vegas Sands. It is billed as the world’s most expensive standalone casino property at S$8 billion, including the cost of the prime land.

Besides having the world’s largest atrium casino, the integrated resort is also made up of a hotel, a convention-exhibition center, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands mall, a museum, two large theaters, seven “celebrity chef” restaurants, two floating Crystal Pavilions, and an ice skating rink. Last, but not the least, the three towers are topped by a SkyPark with an infinity swimming pool.

Inside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands Mall, you can find various designer boutiques that caters to even the most hardcore shopaholic. In addition to this, one of the outdoor floating Crystal Pavilion houses the world’s largest Louis Vuitton boutique, which is connected to the portion of the boutique in the Shoppes via an underwater tunnel.

There is even an indoor canal where visitors can hop on for a short boat ride.

For the most artistically inclined, the theater beckons. Some productions that were staged here were The Lion King, Wicked etc.

The lotus-shaped ArtScience Museum is another major attraction of Marina Bay Sands. It is surrounded by a lotus pond filled with beautiful lotus flowers. The museum has a permanent exhibition and has also hosted various touring exhibitions. Some examples of the touring exhibitions are Van Gogh Alive – the Exhibition,
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, Cartier Time Art, and Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal.

The outdoor waterfront boardwalk is popular with photographers as it is a good spot to take sunset photos with the Central Business District as the backdrop. Every night, there is also a light and water spectacular, the Wonder Full show, that takes place in front of the event plaza.

As can be seen, Marina Bay Sands is a location that can cater to almost everyone. Do pay it a visit when you are in town!

Stop bath is a type of chemical used in the darkroom for processing black and white film, aptly named as such because it halts the development of the images. In this case, stop bath is also part of the title that Korean analogue street photographer Soomin Yim has given her body of work, "Stop Bath the City," to represent the forgotten faces of people in the city amid rapid modernization, captured and immortalized on black and white film.

Lomography Singapore plays host to Parallel Planets’ first exhibition, "Façades: Neo-Noir Portraits Exhibition," featuring all-analog photography: a sea of black and white film portraits. This exhibition serves as a platform where both local and international photographers can express themselves by injecting individual perspectives into their craft. It also encourages viewers to look through the lens of the photographers, to see the subjects as who they are – flawed, alive, and breathing – and to also see beyond the façades we all choose to don.
