When I’m holidaying in Bangkok and know that shopping will be my main activity, the Pathumwan Princess Hotel is my hotel of choice. Why Pathumwan Princess Hotel? The hotel’s website says it all, “The hotel's location is unique, sitting adjacent to MBK Center and opposite Siam Square. Surrounded by some of Bangkok’s best retail and entertainment facilities, you really are spoilt for choice.”
But there was another reason why I chose to stay at this hotel during my recent trip to Bangkok. The weather forecast predicted that there will be thunderstorms throughout my stay in Bangkok. Thus, this hotel was a good choice. In the event of being trapped by the thunderstorms, my wife and I could at least shop at MBK Center.
But thankfully, it didn’t rain at all.
The hotel has been renovated since my last stay a couple of years ago. Yet, several features remained comfortably familiar and reassuring. Like the restaurant for your morning buffet breakfast.
Speaking of buffet breakfasts, one morning, we went slightly later than usual for our breakfast. As the main restaurant was full, we were directed to a smaller restaurant at the poolside on the 8th floor. It turned out to be another wonderful experience for my wife and a great photo opportunity for me.
After our breakfast, we checked out the very relaxing pool area. We just wished we had more time to laze about at the pool.
There were some nice touches to the hotel too.
Even the waiting area for your pick-up to the airport is pleasant.
The hotel that you choose to stay at for a holiday or quick getaway can make or break that much-needed holiday trip overseas. For me, I’m glad I was able to get a room at this hotel at such short notice.
