Dataran Lang (Eagle Square) is the first sight that greets you when you arrive at Langkawi island by the sea. Dataran Lang has a huge sculpture of an eagle poised proudly facing the sea, welcoming you to this mystical island.
Situated near the Kuah jetty, the main attraction of the Dataran Lang is the magnificent statue of the reddish brown eagle majestically poised for flight. According to local folklore, Langkawi derived its name from the eagle or “helang”. In old Malay, “kawi” denotes reddish brown, hence, Langkawi means reddish brown eagle.Dataran Lang is beautifully landscaped and features scenic ponds, bridges, covered terraces, restaurants and barrel vaults made of bricks.During the day, the eagle square is magnificently beautiful. You also need to see the eagle square at night – it’s radiantly illuminated at night.

In my early adolescence, I liked to play table football. For my 12th birthday, my parents gifted me with a wonderful Subbuteo table soccer game set that I had wished for many months! This was my favorite toy until I discovered other interesting hobbies, like ham radio and electronics. So after some years, I gave away this game to other kids.
