Seeking a change of pace, the Lomography SF crew decided to hold our monthly staff meeting somewhere away from the store. Someplace that we could kick back, have a laugh and enjoy hanging out with each other while we talked shop. It was easily agreed upon that the Mission Bowling Club was perfect for us!
It only takes us a few minutes to find the Mission Bowling Club from the 16th Street & Mission BART station. As we walk up to the fenced patio at the front door, a man on a stool awaits us. Joshua and I, we’re getting carded on the way in. For a bowling alley. Obviously, this is going to be a blast.
Enter the Mission Bowling Club. This recently opened establishment is nothing but your typical neighborhood lanes. Within the beautifully designed interior you’ll also find a restaurant and bar. We’re not talking about the usual hum-drum hot dogs, pizza and nachos though. Chef and co-owner Anthony Myint has long pleased San Francisco with his Mission Street Food, Mission Chinese Food, & Commonwealth establishments. Now his famous Mission Burger has made it to the Lanes, as well as nice array of other foods that blend high and low tastes. Whether you need comfort food and snacks or fine dining, you can find them here.
Side note: You don’t have to bowl to eat at the restaurant! Drop in any time to enjoy the grub, and the same goes for drinks. The bar is fairly large and spacious, and on this Wednesday night it was well occupied. Grab a pitcher of your favorite beer or dive into some specialty cocktails. If you’re anything like us, then your game improves after a round or two.
After some chit chat and a few glasses each, we set our names and got to it. MDAWG started us off, followed by JRAD, MEOW, YESSS, SEXYY, RPTAR, and TAREK. (Yeah, we’re awesome). Two frames in, our boss put up a challenge: The best bowler of the evening would win a very cool, super secret prize. You could see the fire in everybody’s eyes almost immediately. The competition suddenly got fierce, and everybody put on their A Games! No more granny rolls, here… We were shooting for strikes!
As it usually goes with bowling, the victor was a complete surprise. MDAWG pulled a strike in the last frame to pull the rug from under the competition. She absolutely destroyed us! Although a little embarrassed, we all had a blast. A few bites, a few pitchers and some good friends go a long way.
Get down to the Mission Bowling Club soon! It’s a great place to spend some time with your best friends or coworkers!
-PS, here’s our Breakfast Club look.
