UK CitySlicker Mikey: My Favourite Shirt for the Beach

Do you have that favorite item of clothing for that perfect day? Let me tell you about my favorite shirt and how it is perfect for the beach in my hometown of Poole!

When Lomography asked me to write about fashion for my first article I had mixed emotions, the main feeling was “What on earth do I write about” because if you have seen any pics of me in my albums, or any of the pics from the Lomography x Rock My Wedding Photo shoot you will be quick to agree with me… I have NO sense of fashion! I was not to have this bring me down and I thought I would write about one of my favorite items of clothing and how it links to my amazing hometown of Poole!

My name is Mikey Davies, I am 18 and I am currently studying Music Production at college, I live at home with my family in Poole, and I was delighted when I was told I was able to write about Poole as a UK CitySlicker as it is one of my favorite places in the world! It is a town situated on the south coast of the UK which has a great history of Pirates and Smugglers! (cool huh?!) It is the second largest harbour in the world, (second to Sydney harbour in Australia!) and also has been voted the Best beach in the UK with Bournemouth Beach!

So what is their better than to wear to the best beach in the UK than a Hawaiian shirt! Every Christmas me and my uncles find the most outrageous Christmas jumpers and cardigans we can find and wear them out around the christmas period, as seen in the pic below!

But this year we have decided to collect outrageous shirts and wear them to the beach all summer also!

This is how I have decided to write about my new shirt, I bought it at a charity shop in Poole for £2.49 and I feel it was one of my favorite items of clothing I’ve ever bought! It is blue and it features small islands with palm trees on it and also small bales of turtles and schools of fish swimming around! The fact it is lightweight makes it perfect on its own for hot days on the beach, but also with a t shirt underneath it, it is perfect for those not-so-hot days! Here are some pics of my shirt!

Perfect to relax in the garden in!

My uncle has already joined the club with his surfer shirt!

So look out at my albums this summer, for pictures of outrageous shirts and brilliant beach snaps! if you have any pics of you in outrageous shirts, or just generally awesome shirts, please don’t hesitate to show me, I’d love to see them!

For this rumble, we want to see that breathtaking moment, shot at the perfect time. And you showed us what it's like to be on time.

Pushing Boundaries: Multiple Exposing Film Soup

As you may have read in my previous article, I truly fell in love with Lomography when I combined my Fisheye camera with an old Canon AE-1 for magical photographic results. Last summer, I took so many pictures of flowers that it started to become almost boring for me. My waning interest and the coming winter meant that I had to figure out something else to do with my 35mm film.

The World According to Herr Willie: The Amazon

It was the Amazon which I had longed for my whole life. And when it was finally a set deal that I will travel to Brazil with two of my best friends for the Copa do Mundo (World Cup), we really had to start our adventure in the Amazon. I had known about this magical place deep in the rainforest. There was a lodge run by local people of indigenous background, with wooden houses that float on the water and a limited number of visitors. It was eco-tourism as how it should be. To preserve and to celebrate one of the most impressive locations I have seen so far.

If you want to know the heart of a person, peek inside his/her wardrobe! And no, nobody famous said that; I only just made it up. But really, don't you think it's true? After all, the way we dress screams our personality; at least for most of us. And that is why, as soon as I land on a new city, one of the things I absolutely must do is find the local boutiques. Sure, I love the fancy chain boutiques as much as the next person, but there's just something else about a local clothing store. It's unique!
