At the Amusement Park with Holga!

2

My first adventure at the amusements parks of Varese and Como (North of Italy) with my Holga 120 GN, a funny companion for a fun place!

Time for “Distraction”! So, two weeks ago I went to Varese, 30km from my city, Como, to pass an afternoon at the local Luna Park with my Holga 120 GN.

As you can see, these photos are typical from this awesome camera: great sharpness at the center and some light leaks (from the front of the camera) on the left side and on the top of some photos! I used black tape to seal the back door, but I found some unexpected leaks (I suspect from the front of the camera because there are some white zones… when the leaks are coming from the back they often are red!). A funny surprise, but because I do not like it, I will use more tape in the future!

This is one of my preferred adrenalinic rides, the MAX Carousel, now in Varese!

And this is a very similar ride, in Como (the “Delirium”)! I went on this ride many times!

The colors are vivid, the vignetting effect is great and it allows you to guide the eyes of the observer to the center of the image! I used a Kodak Portra 160VC professional film to have contrasted photos and vivid colors with a professional film!

The camera is very similar to my Holga 120 CFN, but the glass lens give me more saturated colors with the same vignetting effect.

The camera performs very well at medium distance (3 – 10 meters) with maximum sharpness.

The shutter time of 1/125s is great to photograph sport, rides and moving subject.

A great companion for my Holga 120 CFN with plastic lens!

I like the glass lenses of the GN series

The lens gives a great look to the ride when photographed against the blue sky. It almost looks like a Tilt-Shift lens look. I thought you put tiny people inside your red and yellow Lego toy.

Summer Hot Spots: A Morning Sunbath in Varazze

This is the story of my first adventure on the beach this year. In the middle of June, I took my first sunbath along the seaside on a small public beach in Varazze - a rather small and unkempt place which I will never return to in the future. Read more to find out why!
