Every Cloud Has Its Silver Lining: An Analogue Fashion Shoot

12

Who said a fashion photo shoot has to be digital? Our friend ukaaa takes us on a unique shoot with models and avant-garde clothes!

A while ago, a friend asked me if I could help his girlfriend with a fashion shoot for her Master’s project in fashion design. The collection is called “Every Cloud Has Its Silver Lining” and shows some interesting designs.

Her ideas about the photo shoot were clear: she wanted colourful photos with a playful or confusing depth of field, preferably analogue. What better chance did we have than using the Lomo LC-A? :)

We wrote down a lot of good ideas, but in the end, the weather was cold and generally bad and we had to cancel most of the experimental ones. To spare the models from freezing to death, we did some quicker, more simple shots instead.

This was my first proper photo shoot and it was a great experience with a lot of fun!

Fashion & make-up: Han Mannaert
Models: Mira Feryn & Karen Van Godtsenhoven
Gear: Lomo LC-A + Fujicolor Superia 200

But make no mistake in concluding that it's simply a showcase; Clarke's grandson, Dave Tomkins, has also taken it upon himself to honor his late grandfather as a talented photographer. In this interview, Tomkins introduces him to us and shares the idea behind his personal project.

Since then, Americans have celebrated Fourth of July in full regalia. Some parade in flag-themed costumes or party in their best dresses, while others bond with friends over beer in the park.

A Salute to the Masters: D-Day in Como? (A Tribute to Robert Capa)

This article is dedicated to one of the most important masters of photography, Robert Capa. Capa is well known for his photos of war, from the famous image of the Republican Spanish soldier collapsing backwards after being fatally shot to his images taken in Indochina. He was also a co-founder of the famous Magnum Photo Agency, the first cooperative agency for freelance photographers worldwide. For this article, I took advantage of a rare event held in my city, Como, some weeks ago: a military drill for civil protection purposes.
