It's raining cats and dogs over here in our side of the world and we can only think of one thing: sun, surf and sand! It's time to go to the beach!
I’m honestly not too much of a beach person but if day in and day out all you see are rain clouds, you can get pretty bummed. To jump start myself over this rut, I’ll be going to the beach in a week and hopefully, the sun will come back from its long holiday and shine some golden light that we and our cameras badly need. To hype myself up for this much-needed vacation, let’s check out the best beach images and feature them on Photos of the Week!
There’s literally thousands of stunning beach images on the Photos page that instantly captivates you and begs you to head on out to the nearest shoreline and take a dive, whether its a tourist trap or one of the country’s best kept secrets. So grab you suntan lotion, your favorite camera and leave all your worries behind as we take a swim this week! Enjoy!
For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.
Last week, I received the strangest thing through my letterbox. It was a postcard with this photograph on 1 side. The photo is of me sitting by the sea whilst I was on vacation last year. But I have literally no idea who took this shot – That’s why I came here, to ask for your help on my search for my mysterious photographer and to try and get to bottom of the riddle they wrote me. Please help me if you can!
We've often heard how going beyond our comfort zones can be so rewarding, yet not many of us aren't ready yet to do it. But photographer and athlete Cory Richards is one of those brave few who has constantly gone out of theirs not only to take awe-inspiring photographs, but to communicate the human experience itself to the rest of the world.
33 degrees! Summer has arrived! The heat wave, the sweat, it's time for you to change your clothes into summer season. Grab your tank tops and shorts out of the drawers. Put on your bikinis and let's go to the beach! As we can already feel those beach and poolside shots flooding the Community!
Variety can always spice things up when it comes to artistry. See how photographer John Chervinsky jumps from one medium to another and explore the notions of variety in his series Studio Physics. More photos after the jump.
Every year, just a few weeks before summer, I dedicate a series of photos to the joy of living outdoors in this good season. One of the most common pleasures is taking one's socks and shoes off to feel the first warm rays of sun on our pale feet, which were prisoners inside shoes throughout the long winter season. So, it's time to take off your socks and shoes and relax barefoot! Where? Of course, on the walls surrounding the beautiful lake! Take a look!
It's been a boiling, scorching, baking hot summer here in the Philippines since March, and believe it or not, I haven't been to the beach yet. I'm going to do something about that, but not without making another playlist for the trip! This time, I decided to make a mix inspired by the summer vacations of my younger days.
We’re still hung over from the breathtaking views of springtime and that’s why we’re back to bring you more spring-themed photos. Only this time, the Konstruktor Macro Lens shows us how to take amazing photos of flowers!
As Steve Jobs puts it, "creativity is just connecting things." It's all about tracing one's experiences and pushing the boundaries of what's already known to establish new things. The Lomography community is no stranger to these instances. In fact, the community is filled with brilliant minds who are always ready to refine existing techniques and look for innovative ways to express their visions and ideas. Here are just a few of the creative lomographers we've come to love over the years.
My list of resolutions for 2015 consists of 12 projects, one for every month. March was for caffenol. You have probably heard of the amazing fact that you can develop black and white photos with coffee, sodium, and vitamin C. I had tried this before but with less than stellar results. Somehow, there's always something going wrong. Time to devote a few rolls to caffenol to finally get the hang of it.
We recently had the great opportunity to interview our latest LomoAmigo, Tim Kerr. While his repertoire stretches back to the late 1970's and includes that of musician, artist, painter, photographer, skater and many other things, he just prefers Tim! We gave him a La Sardina DIY, which he not only added his own style to, but shot some excellent photos with as well. Rife with candid and thoughtful answers, we expect everyone will glean a nugget of wisdom and leave with a smile.
