The Kubik is what it is called. Like a Sausage is a Sausage, a carrot is a carrot, the kubik surely consists of square boxes. The special treat here is, that these boxes are illuminated and the surrounding installation of a club on the road.
The Kubik is what it is called. Like a Sausage is a Sausage, a carrot is a carrot, the kubik surely consists of square boxes. The special treat here is, that these boxes are iluminated and the surrounding instalation of a club on the road. The best DJ´s want to part of the experience because the water-tanks fade in and fade out, gloom and darken according to the beat. Right now the Kubik is in Hamburg at the Brandshof.
A abandoned industrial area in the south of the metropolis. Pretty much comparable to Wlliamsburg in NYC, i would say. All the light-blocks are placed in a massive storage hall. It is so big, that you can either jump on the dance floor or search for a silent, cosy corner to rest from the exhaustion of partying. The creators have a real license for partying, so everything is far from being underground. There are doormen, barkeepers and everything. The entrance is with 8 Euros quite a lot, but you don’t need to experience the mix of visual and musical ecstasy every day The kubik traveled quite afar already, it was in Portugal and Spain. During the winter it is stored away. In the summer in is on the road and maybe soon in a town near you. Until July it is in the Brandshof and I attached a link with the directions to this area close to the freeway up north.
In prime areas of New York and San Francisco, the phrase ‘rush hour’ is always on the menu. Drive up to Reno, and the same expression fizzles. Many roads are framed by mountains and shrubbery, a picture of calm in the city. But the night makes up for the day’s stilly mood. Casinos flaunt LED signs and marquees, a treat for urban photographers.
He will respectfully ask for a photo session. He does not outline why, and if you are shy, you will wonder what he has seen in you. He greets reluctance with understanding and a resounding yes with an equal amount of enthusiasm. When the day comes, he will treat you like a collaborator. And whenever he talks about the outcome—comely photos of what looks like your most confident self—he will always call you a muse.

The artist known only by his initials, JR, pastes blown-up faces on city walls and roads. These challenging—often illegal—installations are his version of a goodwill act. Women as heroes, wrinkles as history, and enemies as smiling neighbors are just some of the themes this gutsy artist has aired to the whole world.
When someone asks me why I love Burkina Faso so much and what's so special about it, I answer without any hesitation: the people. There's something in this country that connects the people together very strongly. Here, foreign visitors are warmly welcomed. And honestly, I think that the portraits I'm most proud of and that I really love are those shot in Burkina Faso. "Why," you ask?

Photo travelogues are often sprightly, the forms defined and the colors sharp. Réka Koti has a completely different interpretation. A location is a basis for experiments. Nature is a double-exposure detail or a nebular extension of her model’s frock. Branches and leaves are blurred to look like paint strokes. The outcome is mysterious, and Lomography can’t help asking: What is the alchemy behind these dusky pictures?
