La Sardina: The Tireless Traveler!

2

The La Sardina is a great travel companion that will never betray you! Let me share with you the photos from my adventures with this trusty camera.

La Sardina, the newborn of Lomography, is an excellent point and shoot camera that incorporates in a body made from a tin of sardines, the 10 Rules of Lomography. Its compact size, combined with its wide-angle lens, it is the ideal travel companion suitable for (almost) all the conditions.

I was about to leave for Prague last summer, two days before departure when I came across a dilemma: which camera to take? After carefully examining all the Lomo cameras at my disposal, I decided to give a chance to this small, green plastic girlfriend.

It was the right choice. Its size allowed me to put it inside pants pockets and does not take extra space so I had no bags, purses, etc..

I tried several rolls but I think Lomography CN ISO 400 was just the best choice because of the high sensibility in all lights conditions.

Even with Lomography Redscale XR 50-200, the La Sardina does very well. These are some pictures taken in the afternoon.

Some technical information on the La Sardina:

• Film Type: Standard 35mm (135)
• Exposure Area: 36mm x 24mm
• Lens Focal Length: 21mm
• Aperture: Fixed f/8
• Angle of view: 89 degrees
• Shutter Speed: Bulb (B), 1/100 (N)
• Closest Focusing Distance: 0.6m
• Focusing Steps: Two Step Focusing — 0.6m-1m, 1m-Infinity
• View Finder: Inverse Galileo-Type Built-in Viewfinder
• Film Counting: Auto Film Counting
• Film Stopping: Yes
• Multiple Exposures: Yes
• Cable Release Connection: Yes
• Tripod Mount: 1/4’ Tripod Screw
• Shutter Release Lock: Shutter Locks After Lens Collapsed

A camera to try without a doubt! His silent shutter button will help you in street photography!

Lomo on!

James Wright's So It Goes x Sri Lanka Photo Diary (Part I)

In December last year James Wright, editor and creative director of So It Goes Magazine, went on a two-week trip to Sri Lanka, "a place so long on our bucket list, but up until then, as yet unvisited," he writes on the first of his three-part photo diary. Herein is the first of his series that chronicles his adventures, highlighted by a selection of breathtaking images of the Sri Lankan countryside and the locals, among many other images, captured with his trusty photographic companions: the Leica MP, Lomo LC-A+, and an assortment of films including the LomoChrome Purple.

From Russia with Love: Motorama Shoots with the La Sardina Splendour

I don't know many bands from Russia but one that I've been admiring for years is Motorama from Rostov-on-Don. With catchy tunes and adorable videos, they took my heart by storm and that of fans from all over the world. Because of their Russian origin, Motorama is of course familiar with Lomo products. Reason enough to let them become our latest LomoAmigos! Enjoy the interview with singer Vlad and check out their B&W photos, taken with a La Sardina Splendour.

Simone Legno is the creative director and co-founder of tokidoki, which stands for "sometimes" in Japanese.
