The Ladies Rhythm and Movement Club & Lomography Workshop Highlights

Lomography Gallery Store Toronto joined forces with an amazing women’s collective, The Ladies Rhythm and Movement Club (LRMC), for a crash course in the basics of photography while learning the ways of Lomography! Analogue girl power!

The LRMC is a women’s knowledge bartering collective based in Toronto. They host a monthly workshop series on skills and knowledge for women in the community and, for the month of March, the ladies teamed up with us and spent a fun afternoon shooting with a lomo camera of their choice, whether it was the Fisheye, Diana F+, La Sardina or the LC-A+!

Each member learned the basic vocabulary of photography such as aperture, shutter, exposure, and ISO, and how it applied to the camera they picked! Then the fun started: we hit Queen St West and
the girls went camera happy!

We popped in and out of stores and boutiques, wandered the alleys for the graffiti backdrop, and we made our way to Bellwood Trinity Park for a group photo! But what better way to capture a large group such
as this other than with the 360 spinner and motorizer! Propped on a tripod and remote in hand, the girls stood in a perfect circle around the camera and exposed away!

This group truly embodied the 10 golden rules and became Lomographers in their own right, as each made a collection of unique photographs from their cameras. Check out the photos that LGS Toronto documented!

If you are interested in The LMRC you can learn more by visiting: theLMRC.com where they publish their thoughts, stories, and lessons on their blog. There are no fees for LRMC events – they trade exclusively in knowledge and operate solely on the contributions of their community.

Refer to events page to find out more about upcoming workshop schedules. Get all up in their Facebook & Twitter to hear the latest & greatest!

◦ Workshops are $10 ($7 for students) unless otherwise noted. Workshop admission includes a free roll of film and a loaner camera if applicable. All participants will receive a 10% coupon for the store! Be sure to register early by calling the store (647)352.6702 or emailing us at shoptoronto@lomography.com to secure a spot as camera as quantities are limited.

The European Dream - Selfies from Oranienplatz: Exhibition in Berlin

In more ways than one, Lomography is an art form as much as it is an effective tool to communicate. This is proven in the politically-driven exhibition “Selfies from Oranienplatz," of which the opening event will be taking place on the 16th of October as part of the European Month of Photography in Berlin.
