Quinta da Regaleira: A Fairytale-like Place for Your Fairytale-like Spring Fling!

1

Classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Quinta da Regaleira is located near the center of Sintra in Portugal. Not only is it a great place to take photos, it also has a really romantic feel to it, making it the perfect place to spend the day with your significant other.

Most tourists that come to Portugal and stay in Lisbon know that catching the train for a 40-minute long ride to the town of Sintra is one of those things that you really have to do! Sintra is absolutely beautiful, full of lovely buildings and viewpoints with amazing views that make you feel like you are royalty, looking at the town from the balcony of your own castle!

But the best thing about Sintra in my opinion? Quinta da Regaleira, a fairytale-like place that seems truly enchanted! The pathway that leads from the center of Sintra to Quinta da Regaleira is in itself beautiful and enchanting with some wonderful sculptures along the way:

When you get there, you have to pay a small fee to enter but it really is worth it and looking from the outside, you can’t resist buying a ticket:

It has a palace and a chapel, surrounded by a marvelous and huge park that has many lakes, grottoes, wells, benches, fountains, and various beautiful constructions.

And for the cat lovers, you will find a lot of cats and kittens playing around or resting in the sun:

The entrance fee gives you access to the whole park as well as the inside of the palace and chapel and it has enough things to see and visit for you to be able to spend the whole day in it. They also have some lovely activities now and then, even at night: I once attended a rendition of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream play that took place at night in the gardens and I know sometimes they also organize events for bat watching.

It really is a romantic place so it is no wonder that you will always see couples walking around holding hands

If you ever do come to Portugal, be sure to visit Sintra and Quinta da Regaleira, you will not be disappointed!

    A Color Remix

It's human nature to be restless and imaginative. The real may be interpreted as what one sees or how one sees something. For the daydreamer, a scene from nature transforms into a canvas. Suddenly a field makes room for chemical coloring, all those anachronistic streaks that somehow look right. Or else, those beautiful colors amplified or subdued to their most pictorial shades. All in the world of trial-and-process film photography.
