Lomo LC-A Party in York, UK

9

Here's what we got up to during the LC-A Picnic Party in York, UK!

For those of you who don’t know me, i’m Hanspan but usually answer to Han, I’m 23 and I love the strawberry cream in Quality Street, and writing in Pink pens and also love any excuse to have a catch up, gossip, shoot with Matt.

Matt is a lomoloving, orange cream quality street lomographer who loves photography, having fun, not growing up and shooting with han (and i am not just saying that because she did!)

Well we had our party the Day after the official 25th Birthday of the LC-A! So after singing happy birthday (Yes – I really did) to my LC-A on the Friday, I knew that the Saturday should hold in store plenty of fun, I have Huge faith in Matt! And to be honest i’ll start off with the negative, i was worried… all my planning and organising and writing list after list (i love lists) seemed to be going wrong, with the party pack turing up with bits missing. All lomographers who had shown ANY interest in coming – bar one person, had all bailed on the idea of celebrating. If Im honest my faith in Lomography was failing and i felt like i was surrounded by keyboard warriors! (lukas was a great help in organising the missing bits!)

This wasn’t a happy place for me to be, and I was down and upset about things, but in true matt style he gave me a reassuring smile and told me We would have fun regardless! THAT WE DID! WE CERTAINLY DID!!

After a bus journey from hell dragging a suitcase adorned with Lomography bunting i finally arrived to meet matt outiside the museum gardens, as selecting the Perfect Party Spot for a Picnic, Frisbee action and Skittles the heavens opened! (see pics!) In true idiotic style i went jumping in puddles and remained “damp” for the rest of the day until purchasing new DRY clothes!

So between rain showers we managed a tremendous picnic. Out of my magic suitcase came Home made pizza, Flapjack (ideal for feeding pigeons) fairy cakes, and shop bought apple pies, with tortilla chips, lemonade and cherryade! along with this the other attendees brought more food and even French Red Wine in a can!!!!!!

The afternoon soon dried up, and this resulted in us all shooting using identical 35mm cameras supplied by Matt, I must say that these cameras were actually pretty handy and cute… and once we converted the digital users to analogue the shots were coming! Surrounded by scavenging pigeons kept me occuppied for a while… why is it you will NEVER grow tired of scaring pigeons?? Or maybe you’d like to pick one up?? I tried… and failed (see pics) STEVE decorated his camera before turning up, and turning it into a cake my covering it with Hundreds and thousands and wrapping it in kitchen roll for that added extra effect!! – Well done steve!

The Picnic soon lead to the developers to drop off all of the films as everyone had a camera, and while we were waiting in true Lomography style we went to Vodka Revolution for a Cocktail and a Pint. (and to dry off a little more!) Obviously once shots had been retrieved we headed off to the evening venue where we grabbed a Burger and another pint before setting up and getting the Party rolling. The tattoos went down a treat (shame they didnt come off as easily – callum did you get the one off your forehead ok??)

Tattoos, Beer, Badges, Beer, Banners, Beer, Lomowall photo selection, Beer, Lomowall Building, Beer,Lomowall Judging, Beer, Lomo LC-A Brownie Cake, Beer, Beer, a bit more beer then a game of “I have Never..” More Beer..

The Lomo Brownie Cake went down very well, although I think that the Recipe lied to me!! Although it was all consumed so it can’t have been that bad! Gooey in the Centre, brownie like on the outside, i was so pleased that it survived the day of being dragged around town!! It’s clear that the people in the Venue thought we were total crazies, although when we turned up and she asked if we were the “lomographers” i was Proud to say YES!

My personal thanks go to;

mattcharnock – for reassuring me that all would be OK, and proving me wrong when I was beginning to doubt All in all I had a fantastic time,

callumbum – For making the effort to come and celebrate, and also having the guts to come meet us, we’re not that bad, honest!!!!!! (also thanks for my lift home!)

Couldn’t have asked for a better day to be honest, in all we KNOW how to party LC-A Style!

Lomo Love <3
