Romantic Locations: My Bedroom (gasp!)

Don't panic - I am not going to reveal any sordid details in this article, but for me and my other half, our most romantic place will always be our bedroom in the house we bought together - read on after the jump to find out why.

First of all – I love my bedroom. I always have and always will. Although obviously, the physical room itself has changed over the years, my feelings towards it never do. Firstly, it is the place I feel safest in the whole world – whatever has gone wrong in my day, a good hour spent in my room doing something I like or doing nothing at all, can sort me right out.

These are some photos I have taken in my room just testing various cameras and accessories – look how happy I am!

Also, your room is generally filled with things that make you happy. I don’t mean things that cost money necessarily (although that too) but I mean photos, and clutter, and all the things that make you, “you”.

Some shots from my room of things that make me smile.

Dave and I have lived together almost since we met – we were both students and ended up living in houses with up to 10 other people at any one time! I had a great time doing that through my student years but in the end, nasty landlords, not-so-nice areas, and the idea of throwing money away each month meant we had to buy something to keep and make ours. In October 2008, we got our little house.

Also, I have always loved having a lie in on a Sunday morning, regardless of where I have been living and obviously having someone to share that with, is one of the best feelings in the whole world. The thing is when it is a bed in a rented house, where a million and one students have already slept before, you (and goodness only knows what else has happened there!) Hence the reason when we got our new home – bedroom furniture was literally the first thing we forked out for. Since then my room and my bed have become places where I’ve had a lot of happy memories.

A couple of overnight pinhole exposures of Dave and me sleeping in our new bed, except the last one, which is us messing about.

It made me very happy therefore when I was having one of my Sunday morning lie ins when Dave suddenly rolled over to face, totally out of the blue to announce that he had missed me yesterday (he had been to an all-day music event but I hadn’t fancied it) and he needed to check that he could spend the rest of his life with me – and then he whipped out a beautiful engagement ring (which fit straight away!) I was literally amazed – Dave is not the pre-planning type! He had a conversation with a female friend of his about the best time to ask and where we should be and everything and she had told him “just do it when you are in her favourite place” so he did! And I think he picked really well!
