Love at First Lomo: The World Through My (Fish) Eyes

The first Lomography camera I owned is a Fisheye 2. I fell in love with photos taken by the Fisheye 2 and it was always fun to see how the Fisheye lens distorts the places and people it saw. Join me on the world I saw through my Fisheye 2.

My first Lomography experience wasn’t with the Fisheye 2. Instead, it was with an ActionSampler which was borrowed from a friend. And boy, did I have fun with it! Because you never know how your photos will turn out, every trip to the developing shop is full of surprises (both good and bad). That made me set my heart on owning a Lomography camera. I decided to buy the Fisheye 2 because I like how the lens distort the world it sees. Simply put, it is different which is what I love!

My Fisheye 2 was my constant companion for many adventures in and out of Singapore. The overseas trips we went on were the most memorable because we were forming our memories together for the first time.

At Tioman, we observed the idyllic lifestyle of the locals and noted my excitement and fear of the open sea when snorkeling for the first time. It also captured the wide grins of my best friend and I in Macau as we took in the area bearing an interesting mix of Portuguese and Chinese elements. In Krabi, we basked in the warmth of the sun at the gorgeous Maya Beach and people-watched our day away.

My Fisheye 2 also went on many walks with in Singapore. Marina Bay Sands, Mount Sophia, Punggol Beach, Bugis and the numerous parks dotting Singapore, we have been to them all! There is never a dull moment when you are with Fisheye 2 for it views the world in a quirky way. In my opinion, that makes the world a much better place to live in anyway when you take things less seriously.

Fisheye No. 2 has a 170-degree wide angle view and stunning barrel distortion. Now with a hotshoe and multiple and long exposure capabilities, the world’s greatest compact Fisheye camera is now more amazing than you ever thought possible! Available in different colours and special designs.

Pushing Boundaries: Multiple Exposing Film Soup

As you may have read in my previous article, I truly fell in love with Lomography when I combined my Fisheye camera with an old Canon AE-1 for magical photographic results. Last summer, I took so many pictures of flowers that it started to become almost boring for me. My waning interest and the coming winter meant that I had to figure out something else to do with my 35mm film.

    Finally, My Own Petzval Lens

In April of this year I had the chance to test the Petzval Lens and to write a review on it for the German photography forum Kwerfeldein. The lens excited me from the very beginning, at the time it was introduced on Kickstarter. I was afraid that once I had tested the lens, I would want to have one of my own! Well, that’s what happened; a year later, I finally bought my very own Petzval lens.
