Menton, A Beautiful Gardens

8

Pay a visit to the Menton city, in the French Riviera, close to the Italian border, it has so much to give to you !

Lomographers like to make doubles. When I saw the vicuna’s pics on his Menton’s location, I had the idea to submit my vision of the same city. I had the pics, the challenge for me was to write a text, as usual. I thought that it would funny to compare our visions: we explored different parts of the city – but there are a few spots in common – and we used different cameras: horizon and for him, zeroimage pinhloe and diana for me. I just hope it won’t be too boring to see the same part of the world two times.

The city of Menton is close to the Italian border, at the extreme south east of France. Its exceptional sunlight and the subtropical climate make Menton ideal for growing oranges, lemon trees, palm trees, mimosa, and a lot of exotic plants from all over the world. As a result, the town contains several world-class gardens, such as the Serre de la Madonne, the Le Val Rahmeh, The Fontana Rosa, The Maria Serena garden, and the Biovès gardens.

The old town is very picturesque, a mix of Italy and France. Narrow streets, houses painted in red or yellow, with green shutters on windows, beautiful baroque churches : the majestic Basilique Saint-Michel and a few steps higher "La chapelle des Pénitents blancs, White sinners Church, and old international cemetery perched at the place of the ancient castle, and of course, beaches and two ports.

The people here are simple and proud of their city. They like their tranquility.

Great one! :) And thanks for the link to my location. It's great to have a double vision, because your shots are absolutely stunning and very different from mine, even if we were at the same place. And we already made some "double-vision locations" like the "Fish market of Marseille" or the "Square Head of Nice Library" and it's always very interesting! :))

On the first picture it looks a bit similar to Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral from Macau (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathedral_of_Saint_Paul_in_Macau)
