Weapon of Choice: The Lomo LC-A+

Why is this camera your Weapon of Choice?

It’s so small that you can carry it wherever you go and the photos that originally got me into Lomography were photos taken on it so it will always be special to me. I love its strong contrasts and vignettes. It’s so simple too that you don’t have to think about technical details. Probably my favourite thing about the camera (apart from its awesome shutter noise) is its ability to double expose with a simple button/ The double exposures from my LC-A+ have been my favorite from any camera. Cross processing film from the LC-A+ always reveals incredible results

If ever you were told to have background music while taking Lomographs, what type of music would you prefer? Why?

Ah, well this all depends on the mood I’m in and the type of photos I am taking. :) For example a sunny day, double exposing things with flowers, would be chilled out music : The Postal Service / The Shins / Frank Ocean / Mariachi El Bronx / James Blake. However, if it’s freezing and I’m trying to get some night shots, more ‘lively’ music may be necessary just like Sleigh Bells / Skream / N.W.A / SBTRKT.

But if there was one song which sums up my love for Lomography, it would be ‘The Shins – New Slang’

So here’s what we’ve been working on: an all new lomography.com

For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.

Gommorah Girl: An Interview with Valerio Spada

Valerio Spada went beyond his comfort zone and stepped right into the battlefield with his camera. He went to Naples, Italy, an area populated by the Camorra Mafia but also home to Annalisa Durante who, at the age of 14, was killed by a bullet aimed at a Camorra boss. What happened to her could've happened to any of the girls portrayed in the book Gommorah Girl. This work is about Annalisa. It's about all of the girls that, just like her, seem doomed to an unfair destiny - which, hopefully, may still change.
