Love at First Lomo: My Fisheye 2

5

My first Lomo camera is a white Fisheye 2. Little did I know that it would start my love affair for analogue photography. Read on after the jump.

Love the colors produced in this shot!

Three years ago – that’s when I first received my Fisheye 2. My mom got it as a present for me on my birthday. (How cool is that?!) And what’s an excited newbie lomographer to do?? Test it out of course!

My camera came with a Fuji Velvia slide film – courtesy of my sister. After looking at the manual on how to load the film and use the camera, I was all set! I was most pleased with the Fisheye’s easy-to-use controls and settings. Perfect for a newbie like me. Also, looking through the fisheye lens viewfinder is a treat! The Mx (multiple exposure) setting is also cool which allows you to take shots on a single frame.

So here are some pictures from my first roll of film. Well, I wasn’t expecting much because it was my first roll. But when I saw it, I was amazed with the results!

Since then, I’ve had many adventures with my Fisheye 2. And I also got a submarine for it for underwater shots.

Even though I already have other analogue cameras (with much fancier controls and dials), I don’t think I’ll ever tire of my Fisheye 2. It’s a great camera to use if you just want to have some point-and-shoot fun!

My first Lomo was a Fisheye too! This is so much fun, people are always scared when you stand too close to them to take a picture, but that's the point of it ;)

Exactly seven years ago, I bought this camera from Indonesia's local Lomography community. I remember having some savings in my bank account and just spending it all on this camera. Coincidentally, my friend who introduced me to Lomography just bought this same camera for his birthday. My life has changed ever since I had the Fisheye, my first lomographic camera.

Pushing Boundaries: Multiple Exposing Film Soup

As you may have read in my previous article, I truly fell in love with Lomography when I combined my Fisheye camera with an old Canon AE-1 for magical photographic results. Last summer, I took so many pictures of flowers that it started to become almost boring for me. My waning interest and the coming winter meant that I had to figure out something else to do with my 35mm film.

    Finally, My Own Petzval Lens

In April of this year I had the chance to test the Petzval Lens and to write a review on it for the German photography forum Kwerfeldein. The lens excited me from the very beginning, at the time it was introduced on Kickstarter. I was afraid that once I had tested the lens, I would want to have one of my own! Well, that’s what happened; a year later, I finally bought my very own Petzval lens.
