This was the London Park Reminiscence of the LC-A Birthday Year 1984

6

A bunch of fun in the sun and some beer, coke and an attempt to remake the matrix! Did it work? find out here.

This incredibly hot and sunny day at the London Victoria Park was full of fun and off the hook action- it just became an absolutely unforgettable gathering!

Helen, our Lomography veteran from Newcastle lead the crowd into the deepest secrets of Lomography cameras, a crazy horde of long established Lomographers and numerous curious newbies overcame their physical limits at the sports day and the fact that we attempted the LomoMatrix in London for the first time was very exciting – AND HOW MUCH FUN WAS THAT? All of us just wanted to do it again and again and again….

We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when Alfie and one of his mates did a totally crazy LomoMatrix stunt and chest jumped with each other to the resounding sound of a ‘slap’, but we’re sure as hell it’s going to make a good movie!

Watch out for the ready-made LomoMatrix masterpiece to be posted here soon!

Sports day was just about the funniest things we’ve seen this side of Christmas too – We definitely toughed up our biceps, triceps and- most of all- the laugh muscles by freaking out at the Wheel barrow race, Egg and spoon race, Three legged race, Running an blowing bubble race, Hoola hooping and many many more!

Some of us lolloping along in the wheelbarrow and three legged races is an image that will stay with The Lomography London Embassy for a very long time!

This get together also became a nostalgic homage to our beloved Soviet friend- the Lomo LC-A camera and her birthday year 1984
We fondly remembered this wonderful age of Milli Vanilli, Wham! A-Ha, and Duran Duran, we shed a tear for those beloved old fashion items such as the super futuristic Casio Watch and the Mullet hairstyle and thankfully reminisced about this quarter century of mind blowing images the Lomo LC-A brought to all of us.

The day was a wonderful memory for us all and it wouldn’t have been the same without all the guys and girls taking part with such good spirits and happy hearts.

Beer, LCA Cake, Cola Bottles, Chocolate Mice, Refresher Lollies, Drumstick Lollies, Sports Day, Picnic and LomoMatrix challenge…just what wasn’t to love about the day!

So here’s what we’ve been working on: an all new lomography.com

For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.

Photographer Michael Ciavolino Tells the Story Behind 'Boat Ride, Rye Beach' (1962)

Photographs with sprocket holes exposed are practically a dime a dozen these days but, of course, this wasn't the case more than 50 years ago. However, former freelance photographer Michael Ciavolino was already able to create one of the earliest examples of this technique back in the early '60s in his groundbreaking photograph called "Boat Ride, Rye Beach." Find out the fascinating story behind this photo, as well as how and why he did it in this exclusive Lomography feature!
