My Mom, the Style Icon: Vintage Photos of Mom

2

The blog, created by editor Piper Weiss, features photos submitted by daughters, granddaughters, and even great granddaughters, of their stylish relations! All the vintage photos are film-based and highlight fashions of the time, some even 'before' their time!

Behind the fabulous outfits the women above so gracefully display lie fascinating stories, each written by their daughters, that are highlighted on the blog My Mom, the Style Icon. For instance, the first photo shows Chilean mom ‘Maribel’ in 1987 Chillan, Chile. With skinny jeans, a cardigan, shirt with ruffles, and that boy-cut, the ‘look’ is very modern and would chime in with today’s youths! We love the following line in the original blog post because it’s likely accurate – “memo to the girl at the free outdoor Catpower concert in Prospect Park: you’re wearing Maribel’s blouse.”

My Mom, the Style Icon also appears as a regular feature in Lucky Magazine.

You can submit your own photo of your hip-looking mom for consideration too! Visit the blog’s submissions page now.

What happened to fashion? We don't have time anymore, that's what I think, and with "the time" many things have gone... :'(.
