My Analogue Bucket List for 2012: New Year, New Goals

3

New year, new goals! Well, most of the things on my analogue bucket list for 2012 have been on there for a while - all the more reason to get them done this year!

I don’t have a lot of things I want to achieve in 2012, mostly I just want to keep shooting as much as I have been in 2011 and, most importantly, keep having fun doing it. However there are a few things I have been wanting to do (or buy) for a long time now!

1. Develop my own film.
I have developed my own film in the past, but currently, I don’t have the necessary equipment at home. One of my goals for 2012 is to buy a development tank and get into developing film using Cafenol. Developing your own film is fun, cheap, and faster than most labs so it’s something I definitely want to explore further!

2. Buy a Lomo LC-Wide.
I wanted one of those ever since it was introduced last year! However, it’s a little too pricey for a poor student like myself. So I’m saving money and piggies to buy it some time this year.

3. Go to Photokina.
I’ve been to Photokina twice so far and absolutely loved it!!! It’s the world’s largest photography trade show with literally tons of interesting booths to discover, workshops to attend to, pros to talk to… In short, it’s a photographer’s paradise! Of course, the Lomography booth is always a highlight and I’d really like to have one of my photos on this year’s Photokina lomo wall! Also, I’m looking forward to meeting other lomographers there as well!

4. Make more multiple exposures.
Sometimes I find it hard to completely let loose and shoot double exposures. I find that I’m still thinking to much and and in my head I always go like, “this is never going to come out the way I want it to” so I don’t even try and stick to one photo a frame. I’d really like to break that habit though because on this site I have seen so many multiple exposures that have simply blown my mind. I just need to be braver!

5. Meet more lomographers and shoot doubles across the globe.
One of the things I love most about Lomography is the amazing community. Everyone is so passionate about their hobby, but so nice and helpful at the same time. I would like to meet some more lomographers in person, but also I would like to shoot doubles with lomographers living so far away that it’s not very likely we will ever meet in person. In short, I want to connect to more of you magnificent individual lomographers!

Those are my main goals for 2012 and I am positive they can be met. Do you have similar goals for this year? And who am I going to meet at Photokina? Feel free to leave a comment!

Let’s make 2012 a year full of creativity and analogue love! If you liked this article, go ahead and check the rest of analogue bucket lists for 2012 submitted by the community! Of course, you can also submit your own inspiring analogue bucket list for 2012 and get more piggies!

My Analogue Bucket List: Faster Than a Speeding Cannonball

The new year is still young, but it seems as if it'll be over quickly. My organizer is already filled with entries until June. 2015 will probably be worse than 2014 when it comes to having time off so I could take some analogue shots. Anyway, there are some photography-related things that I really want to get done. It is probably best to set some goals if I only have very limited time.

My Year in Analogue: Something New, Something Old

Hi, everyone! I'd like to share with you my 2014 summary on analogue photography. Some things I did were completely new, while some were my good old habits. This year I learned how to develop black and white film, which I consider my greatest milestone. But the most important thing is that in 2014, I remain in love with Lomography! And the rest? Well, let's see...

From Russia with Love: Motorama Shoots with the La Sardina Splendour

I don't know many bands from Russia but one that I've been admiring for years is Motorama from Rostov-on-Don. With catchy tunes and adorable videos, they took my heart by storm and that of fans from all over the world. Because of their Russian origin, Motorama is of course familiar with Lomo products. Reason enough to let them become our latest LomoAmigos! Enjoy the interview with singer Vlad and check out their B&W photos, taken with a La Sardina Splendour.

    Monday Moodboard: Hello, Canon A-1!

Three months into the New Year, I can finally tick off the most crucial item in my analogue resolutions list for 2014. Yesterday afternoon, I finally got a “new” old SLR to replace my broken Minolta α-7700i from the good ol’ streets of Hidalgo in Quiapo – a Canon A-1.

So here’s what we’ve been working on: an all new lomography.com

For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.

Lomography x Zenit New Petzval Lens: Wandering Through The Big Apple

There’s something about New York that attracts people, something that makes both visitors from the most bucolic places and tourists from the most cosmopolitan of cities fall in love. Countless movies and television programs have been filmed in New York, and so many songs have been written in reminiscence of the place. It’s not just the Empire State Building, Times Square or Broadway; there’s something special about the streets and the people who walk on them that make spectators stop, look, and listen.

Although having grown up in a time when film photography was the norm, working with instant pictures was something special for me. Today it is even more special, as this analogue form of photography has been my companion for almost twenty years.
