Covering the film counter with something other than black tape...
When I was modifying my Holga 120 CFN to load 35mm film, I tried to follow the rules and cover the back film counter up with black tape, however I had misplaced that lovely electrical tape that my baby had come with and was left with only this blue duct tape stuff.
I figured, what the hell, and taped it up.
What came out of my Holga were these square shaped light leaks, that weren’t overpowering but seemed to just shine a little red or yellow spotlight on the centre of my photo (which was great if that’s where my subject was).
Plus, since I had been using slide film and had x-processed it, my shots came out with great contrast in the colours of the spotlight and the surrounding photo!
Try it out yourself and see what happens? Who knows what will come of taping it up with say… tissue paper? Maybe a cross between what I have and ethermoon's tip?
My list of resolutions for 2015 consists of 12 projects, one for every month. March was for caffenol. You have probably heard of the amazing fact that you can develop black and white photos with coffee, sodium, and vitamin C. I had tried this before but with less than stellar results. Somehow, there's always something going wrong. Time to devote a few rolls to caffenol to finally get the hang of it.
In the week preceding the elections for the European Parliament, several political rallies were held in Como. As with all other public events in my city I documented one of these rallies, this time using a Russian film camera Zorki 6 loaded with a black and white film roll. Take a look!
