Jinghong is the capital of Xishuangbanna prefecture and when you'll get out of the bus, you will get an impression that you are more in Laos, then in China: the climate, the look, the people - everything looks "not the same".
The following reasons should bring you there besides affordable accommodation and warm weather: Jinghong is Xishuangbanna communication hub and most of the ethnic minorities villages are accessible from here by bus or by bike. At least three places in the town will help you to guide and to explore the region: Mei Mei cafe, Mekong cafe and Forest Cafe.
While passing through Jinhong, try to get at least one day off for visiting the Tropical Flower and Plants Garden and for enjoying in Blind Massage School. In the evening you’ll easily find the night market to purchase traditional musical instruments and souvenirs.
Finally, don’t miss the opportunity to buy at least one Pu’er Tea cake for the road, but choose the shop carefully (I’d recommend one big near the New Mekong Cafe – once there you’ll find it easily, basing on this short description :).
