Parc Guell is perhaps one of the most beautiful parks I have ever visited. Of course the beautiful sunshine, palm trees filled with exotic green birds, and panoramic views of Barcelona are the main reasons for this - and it is a million miles different from any of the parks in the UK.
Parc Guell in Barcelona is just a short bus or metro ride north of the city centre and as it is such a huge tourist attraction it is super easy to find. Wikipedia has this to say about the park:
“Park Güell is a garden complex with architectural elements situated on the hill of El Carmel in the Gràcia district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built in the years 1900 to 1914. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Works of Antoni Gaudí”."
Of all the sites I visited in Barcelona this was probably my favourite. Maybe because on the day we chose to go, there was a bit of a heatwave – in December – which a Yorkshireman like myself is definitely not used to!
It is a strange park set on all different layers going up the side of a hill. It is one of the most interesting parks that I have ever been to in my life, which of course made it a great spot to photograph. The views from the top of the park are amazing and they just get better the higher and higher you climb.
