Take a Walk in Everton

2

On a fine afternoon, I was walking around hoping to find a suitable spot for shooting. I walked and walked and saw a row of houses in the middle of some high-rise estates. So I made my way closer to have a clearer view. I fell in love with it at first sight and decided to take some shots there.

While walking in Everton Road, for a moment I thought I was in China. Buildings were designed and built in a Chinese fashion. So my theme for that day was “Chinese Way of Design”.

I personally love to take photos of old things especially Chinese-related things like doors, windows, lanterns, and anything, which has a Chinese character on it. So what you will get to see there are Chinese-related things like what you can see in my photos. Everton is a peaceful area so you can relax and take your time to shoot. In addition to this, you will get to meet foreign expats living there, try to take a photo of them, I am sure they are very happy to allow you to do so.

If you cannot get enough to shoot still, you can head down to Chinatown to continue your lomo trip as it is very near to Chinatown.

    Ride the Duck in London

In many of the places I've travelled, I've seen small, yellow amphibious tour buses -- the ubiquitous 'Ducks.' In some places the pleasure cruisers are encouraged to blow duck whistles, but everywhere they tour on land before descending into the city's waterway. I decided to become a tourist in my own town and ride the London duck.

A Salute to the Masters: Football (A Tribute to Lothar Rübelt)

This is a tribute to a great Austrian sports photographer, Lothar Rübelt. In an era with no high speed films available, he was able to immortalize wonderful moments in sports - from diving to gymnastics and football. In creating this tribute, I took a series of photos of an amateur football match using expired black and white film developed using an uncommon chemical. Take a look after the jump!

    Fresh from the Lab: 1990

A weekend without a lomowalk seems bad, at least for me. One Saturday morning, I decided to join my friends in their lomowalk. It was all cloudy at first but it didn't stop me from going out and walking. I brought my new Nikon FM2 and some expired rolls, just to test my camera. Was it just me being sleepy, or was my Nikon FM2 acting up? My photos turned out grainy, pale, and, in my opinion, looking so 1990s?
