If you’re situated anywhere near San Diego California, then you’re in luck because next month the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) will be hosting an exhibition of American photography spanning a hundred years.
Drawn exclusively from MOPA’s photography collection, Eyes of a Nation highlights pioneering photographers with a distinctly American sensibility. It includes photos by greats such as Dorothea Lange, Weegee, Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, Alfred Stieglitz and Aaron Siskind.
After receiving a record-breaking reception during its international debut at the Dong-gang Photography Festival in South Korea the exhibition is returning to wow on home turf.
The selection of works reveals movements and photographers who shaped American photography from the 1870s to the 1970s. It also includes original copies of the groundbreaking photography publications Camera Work and Aperture.
Eyes of a Nation: A Century of American Photography, will be on view from February 11th through to May 13th, 2012 at the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA), San Diego California
