Bauchklang Shoots With the LomoKino

Our good friends and Lomography lovers Bauchklang are pros in dealing with the Lubitel 166+. The camera is a consistent companion in their private life and on tour around the globe. Now it's time for them to try out a new camera - our LomoKino. Read the interview with Bauchklang member Philipp Sageder and watch their LomoKino video from Brunnenmarkt in Vienna.

Tell us a bit about your current projects and future plans.
In September we released a new EP called “LE MANS”. The most progressive minimal and human-electronic piece of work we have done so far in the studio. Plan is to have the next EP released mid 2012 and then let’s see what happens. Beside the studio work we had a lot of gigs in places from Mumbai to Berlin to Jakarta and we are always working on our live performances musically and with our light and visual partners. So always a lot to do.

Have you been Lomographers before we asked you to become LomoAmigos?
Not all of us, but we liked the analog way of seeing the world.

Describe the LomoKino in five words.
Simple, black, flow, fun, story.

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?
Since there is no reference how it works, it was simple trial and error shooting straight away. It’s easy & cool, and thrilling to see what finally turns out.

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?
If people see you with this device there is always a big question mark and then they’re asking what the hell you are doing.

If you could have any person alive or dead (or imaginary) star in your LomoKino movie, who would it be and why?
I guess I would choose Roger Rabbit, because I always wanted to take a close shot on the birds flying above his head when he hits himself with a pan.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? A music video or a short film?
It’s part of our equipment on tour and I’m a fan of stop trick movies, so hopefully and with a lot of patience there will be a chance that something fruitful will come out of this combination.

Your advice to future LomoKino users.
Don’t be afraid when you see your stock of 35mm rolls slowly disappearing when trying to capture an idea of yours. :)

This new Petzval lens is a revival of a lens that was created in the 19th century. The optics has come to life again with the help of a crowdfunding website and all the backers that have supported this project. The production is done by one of Russia’s lens companies – Zenit. We lent out our prototype Petzval lens to DC Watch, one of the largest digital camera online magazines in Japan. Check out their results after the jump.
