LomoPeople Malaysia: Eastmoe

7

A great and talented lomographer, Eastmoe or his real name is Iskandar Ahmad Rodzai. I was reminded that the main reason I love lomography is because of him as he inspired me to immortalize the precious moment in a unique way.

I met Eastmoe in 2008 and started to develop the interest and skill in Lomography in early 2009. He is a “sifu” for me who assists me a lot in learning new techniques and handling the lomo cameras. Also, he guides me well with his insightful thoughts and advises.

He initiated his passion in lomography by capturing the panoramic view using his first analogue camera, smena 8 in year 2005. After 7 years in this field, he has almost 50 collections on analogue camera such as SLR cameras, point and shoot, rangefinders, Lomography cameras, Polaroids, Fuji Instax, medium format cameras, and panoramic cameras. Even so, his favourite camera is the LC-A.

Eastmoe is now an expert in analogue cameras as experience is the teacher of all things. Moreover, he won most of the competitions in Lomography and therefore it boosts my spirit to achieve the same glory as well as to improve my virtuosity. He is my role model at the same time.

Many people admired him for his generosity in sharing his ideas, tips and tricks, as he is a very informative man. He has a distinct character to make “DIY” and recycle stuff or waste to become useful things.

Besides that, his deep concerns in analogue camera allowing him to widen his career into a business path in repairing, repainting and cleaning the analogue camera. Above all of his great achievement and personality, I wish one day I could follow his footstep.

A Salute to the Masters: Ducks (A Tribute to Henri Cartier-Bresson)

This article is dedicated to arguably one of the most famous street photographers in the world, Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004). On this occasion, I felt obliged to write a tribute to this great artist whom I consider the "Mozart of Photography." His photos are inimitable, and to try to reproduce his innate sense of composition, harmony, and choice of the right moment is but an illusion. So I chose an unusual way to pay tribute, the only way possible for me. Take a look!

A Salute to the Masters: Judo (A Tribute to Sabine Weiss)

This article is a tribute to the street and humanist photographer Sabine Weiss. Considered a living legend in street photography, she likes to photograph daily lives of people, trying to capture the emotions she recognizes around her. Weiss like to photograph people of all ages but she especially loves to take photos of children, masterfully immortalizing their spontaneous gestures and emotions. For this article, I was inspired by one of her rare sports photos of some children practicing judo. Do you want to know more about this great artist? Well, read on!
