It may be small, but Hotel de Banville in Paris offers its guests more than just a cozy bed to sleep at night. If not for its bright red awnings and banner displaying its name, you could walk past Hotel de Banville without knowing it, thus, making it an adventure just to find the place! But don’t judge a book by its cover.
This hotel is located in the 17th arrondissement, one of Paris’ quieter districts. Yet, it is still within walking distance to Champs Elysées, Parc Monceau, Palais des Congrès, and Rue de Courcelles, one of the more popular shopping streets.
Even though I only had the opportunity to stay one night here, several things caught my eye. First was the lift. The lift is the type that I’ve seen in old movies. It’s small. It could barely fit three adults with two large suitcases.
Then it was the view from our room’s window. It looked into a courtyard that was equally divided for use by its residents in the surrounding buildings.
Next was the staircase. I don’t know why but I was like a deer caught in headlights looking at the stairwell.
I also liked the fact that the hotel decorated the stairwell with a vase and some flowers.
Stepping out of the hotel, you’ll immediately notice the rows of cars parked along the little street, which presented a direct advertising opportunity for nearby businesses.
Looking around, you can sense how peaceful the place is.
Though I stayed only a night in November 2011, the hotel staff was really nice, friendly, obliging and understanding. In fact, if given the chance, I would love to stay here again.
Do check out my Paris albums for the rest of my photos.
