Kodak Ektachrome E200: Beyond Blue Toned Skies

8

As someone new to the analogue world, I took a risk and bought a slide film. Read on to find out how I expanded analogue possibilities using Kodak Ektachrome E200 film.

As a newbie in discovering the analogue world, I have recently purchased a film other than the usual color negatives available in stores. It’s the Kodak Ektachrome E200. At first, I wasn’t sure about purchasing this roll in bulks since all I’ve heard is it gives you that “Hello Bluer Skies” feel to it…more like bluish colored tones. So okay, I gave it a risky shot and upon processing, it gave me what I expected.

Further in my exploration on what else Kodak Ektachrome E200 can do for me, I tried experimenting on how it would deal with shadows and silhouettes, and how it would deal with scenarios when daylight is just about to fade. I had these questions and crazy ideas in mind which I am not sure of, but I decided to still give it a try. The results? Just how I envisioned it!

Wow, this film really triggered my creative juices to work on overdrive! It’s time to do the final test. I have always been aching to do long exposure shots of the city where I live in: Manila, Philippines. It’s the perfect spot to do such because of the bustling traffic and the glamour of the night lights. Given the season, it is also the perfect time to do what has been playing in my mind. I got to do some night walks around the city, carrying my Lomography cameras, the La Sardina and Sprocket Rocket, supported by a tripod. I became a trigger happy lomographer on the loose! What came out? All I can say is…magic!

Load your favourite lomocameras now with the Kodak Ektachrome E200 and shoot your analogue visions be it day or night. Don’t be afraid to take risk shots with this film because, based from experience, it has a sure knack for the twistedly creative mind!

Kodak Ektachrome E 200 35mm delivers fine grain with a little more speed. Kodak’s amplifying system controls and enhances colour rendition and its advanced emulsion sensitization ensures perky whites and sharper shots. See the whole range of colour slides in our Shop.

Nice photos! :) When I started with analogue photography, my first 2 rolls were both slide films. They are really fun to experiment with, and I always get lots of surprises after processing the films :)

I am a Mad Analogue Scientist: New Experiments with 35mm Films and Chemicals

Unfortunately, it happens sometimes that your resulting pictures are not what you expected - the image doesn't look that good, the colors are bland, and the subject is banal. Indeed, it couldn't be picture of the year! Herein I propose a second chance for your pictures by modifying your 35mm negatives. Just pick up some ideas from here, experiment, and scan your negatives with the Lomography Smartphone Scanner. Anything is possible: burning, scratching, putting on hydrochloric acid, balsamic vinegar, nail polish, bleach, or raspberry juice... use your imagination and write down your new film soup recipe! You can find a sample of the effects in this article.
