The Man Behind the Giant La Sardina

20

When you enter Lomography Gallery Store Singapore, you will not fail to notice this giant La Sardina. It's sitting quietly there like a tame baby but it's so adorable that everyone will want to hug and fiddle with it! It has been held, pinched, touched, kissed, hugged and worn by hundreds of people. But have you ever wondered who the man the man behind the magnificent La Sardina is?

He is the man who supports me in everything that I do, listens to me when I cry, and provides for me when I am need. He is an artist, a sculptor, a hunter (real jungle hunting), a professional angler and a basketball coach. He is a superhero. He is my father.

I was planning some props for Lomographers to play around during the opening party. Then I talked to my father about the idea. Without thinking much, he said: Let’s do it.

So he drew a few sketches on paper, bought different types of materials: foam board, perforated board, paints, etc. The first step is to build the body. The front and the back cover is easy, the hardest part is to bend the foam board by heating it to build the rounded sides of the La Sardina. As a perfectionist, he scrapped the first La Sardina body because it is not up to his standard. Every night he was thinking what is the best material to make the lens, the shutter, the view finder, and the holes for the flash. The Giant La Sardina took him a month to complete.

The Giant La Sardina is his gift for all of us, the Lomographers in Singapore! Today, you can still see it at Lomography Gallery Store Singapore.

My father is adventurous, active, and humorous! He loves outdoor as much Lomographers do. Sometimes we spend our weekend fishing at the river. We also gave him a surprise on his birthday this year! And he joined us to celebrate my birthday with me at Jurong Bird Park too!

He is also a Lomographer. He loves Diana F+. These are some pictures that he took.

Thank you father, I love you!
