LomoPeople Malaysia: Nasrol

6

He drives a sports car, owns a Nikon FM2 and is also a vintage camera owner. Who is he? Yes, he is Nasrol!

I had no idea who Nasrol was until I read an entry about him in jibam blog. It was entitled “Cinta Luar Biasa” (Extraordinary Love), and features his picture with Malaysian LomoAmigo eva_eva. At first, I thought they were a couple. Judging by his smile, they could be very happy together.

A year later, I finally got to meet him on our friend’s wedding in Seremban. After having a small conversation with him, I found out he is friendly, funny and naughty, too! I love to see the way he jokes around with his friends. It will make you feel like you always want to be with Nasrol. Not to forget, Nasrol is active in Malaysian Lomography communities like Effekts and AnalogueFreak. His reputation as a Lomography old-timer makes anyone who is new in Lomography follow in Nasrol’s footsteps.

I think it’s not proper that I end this without mentioning Nasrol’s gear. He owns a Nikon FM2, Lomography Horizon Perfekt, LC-A, and also his latest “wow” camera, the Zenza. As far as I know, he owns more cameras that I have mentioned here. Hey brother, when will you stop hunting vintage cameras? It’s time to invest your money on love!

It seems that Nasrol doesn’t have a LomoHome but here is his Facebook account. To end this, I hope that Nasrol will end his single life and find somebody that he loves. Don’t hide your feelings, Nasrol!

    Fresh from the Lab: 1990

A weekend without a lomowalk seems bad, at least for me. One Saturday morning, I decided to join my friends in their lomowalk. It was all cloudy at first but it didn't stop me from going out and walking. I brought my new Nikon FM2 and some expired rolls, just to test my camera. Was it just me being sleepy, or was my Nikon FM2 acting up? My photos turned out grainy, pale, and, in my opinion, looking so 1990s?

Fresh from My Darkroom: The First Game of the New Rugby Season

Last Sunday, the local rugby team Rugby Como played the first match of the 2014-1025 season. Rugby is my favorite sport to photograph, and for some years I've been documenting almost every home match of this young team. This time I used a 1959 Zorki 5 camera with a vintage 1958 Industar-50 lens loaded with a timeless film, the Ilford HP5+ developed in a century-old developer, the mythical Rodinal. Take a look after the jump!

A Salute to the Masters: Football (A Tribute to Lothar Rübelt)

This is a tribute to a great Austrian sports photographer, Lothar Rübelt. In an era with no high speed films available, he was able to immortalize wonderful moments in sports - from diving to gymnastics and football. In creating this tribute, I took a series of photos of an amateur football match using expired black and white film developed using an uncommon chemical. Take a look after the jump!
