I invite you to walk around the Guggenheim Museum in the Spanish city of Bilbao in the north of the country to see it through my Sprocket Rocket (it was the first time I was using it) lens!
Guggenheim Museum is a contemporary art museum, one of the foundation’s five worldwide, and was opened on October 18, 1997. Every year, more than a million people visit the museum, it has been a revitalization of the area in recent years.
The museum is located near the river, in a new green environment where shopping centers, office buildings, and Deusto and UPV universities make for a spectacular and urban place.
Perhaps one of the most characteristic things in this museum is the building itself, designed by architect Frank O. Gehry. This is a curvilinear building, twisted, covered with limestone, glass, and titanium plates. Even today, 11 years after its inauguration, it’s still a reference in the architecture world. The building along the river, has a shape similar to a ship, an homage to the city that once hold many naval industries. The interior of the museum is formed by wide spaces, long corridors, and high windows that generally avoid geometric shapes and use organic shapes.
Personally, it’s one of my favorite emblematic buildings in Spain, both the museum and the area, they are a great place to walk and shoot, especially when the sun shines! I’ve always liked taking pictures of the place because of the shapes, I think it’s totally photogenic! In this place we can find tourists, local people, and university students. This is a cool place to visit!
