First LomoKino Rumble

It's here! Our first Rumble in which we ask for your LomoKino films! Living in the age we do, we become documentors of our time when we pick up a camera. History is important to us and film is valuable in telling its story! Read on to see what we ask of you fair documentors!

Credits: satomi

Have you visited our lovely Locations section lately? With your help we’d like to expand it as documenting locations, and at the same time history, through film is important to us as we are sure it is to you! And what better way than to shoot a movie of these sights and scenes and share it on a community platform that reaches all over the globe!

We want you to tell us a story featuring where you live. The film should present the environment of, and/or culture found in, your surroundings. It should be something you’d want to present to a Historian who’s compiling primary documents to include in a time capsule, set to be opened 100 years from now.

So plot or no plot, we want to see your ‘Locations’. And, please include a description and tags of the location and some information so that other Lomographers can learn about the places that appear in the films they are watching!

Important: To enter the competition, simply copy the URL, in your LomoHome, of the movie/s you are entering and paste as a comment in this article.

  • Prizes for each rumble: 3 winners of 10 piggies each.
  • Film/Camera Type: Any film using the LomoKino.
  • Upload Limit: 3 LomoKino Movies.
  • Meta data must be completed (camera, film, location & 3 tags)
  • Other: Sound may be included but make sure you have the right of use!

ok, i'm going to state something real quick: i was very excited as i was reading this competition... then I got to the prize sections and it's only 10 piggies. I'm sure you guys are aware of how many rolls of film it would take to do a proper job at documenting locations and showing people the cultures of where we live in... so I think that to compensate for all the film that would be going into this, a proper reward would be a few packs of film to make up for the film we would be using up. Also, I think that for any lomokino user there's no better reward than film. So yeah, sorry if this upsets anyone, but I just felt like I should express myself. Lomo on!

@reneg88. Our rumbles aren't mandatory and are instead fun, participatory events that are designed for Lomographers to enjoy as well as see the works of, and be inspired by, fellow Lomographers! Lomo on, and we hope our rumbles are inspiring and alluring in their own right.

@soundfoodaround hihi, actually agreed with @reneg88, i think its more than jus taking one still picture, perhaps u guys can "beef-up" the prize for this rumble abit? BTW i love all the inspiring and fun rumbles!

@soundfoodaround oh! i love all rumbles as well! and i know for sure they're not mandatory! But I, as a lomokino owner, would love (and am planning on it) to participate, but I was just saying that it would be a little more inspiring if we knew we actually had a chance at winning something that would help us continue to make lomokino movies by having the tools it takes (mainly lots and lots of film) hehe. But by no means did I mean to say that rumbles were uninspiring or anything like that. I love all of the rumbles that are constantly going on! :) <3

I also agree with @reneg88, it is a stingey amount and come on it's the New Year and everyone knows prices go up at this time ; ))
@soundfoodaround that wasn't really an answer more of a political statement of deviation.
I would think for such a lot of work irrespective of the participatory element of fun, a suitable piggy increase would be appreciated, maybe even if it was scaled and the winner got 30 and it decreased from there.
    All the best!

We have taken in your comments. Thank you for the feedback. We are maintaining the prizes for this rumble. We are sorry to hear that you think this is stingy @kylewis - in this case, please check out other competitions, as prizes vary from rumble to rumble.

No offense to anyone, but I had a Lomo kino before I joined ( and yes, I've made super 8 films also).
I don't understand the piggies thing yet, but even if you don't have a camera, you can get ' 10 Piggies "
    just for joining...
I have to agree with the majority when I say film would be a better prize than piggies. If there is a lot of expired available, it would be a better prize.
I was a mod on an online photo site, and to get good entries from all over the planet for contests , we gave out
1st prize : An olympus trip 35 camera
    2nd prize : 5 rolls of film
    3rd prize : 3 rolls of film

The contest was a huge success...when someone from a mods continent won, the prize was shipped from that continent to keep costs low. the size of the group when from hundreds, to thousands.
That's thousands of potential Lomo customers mind you. New users.

    Keep up the good work!

Capturing the serenity around my neighborhood--scenery, trees, lake ontario, pet pigeons, dead bird, the spirit of nature essentially...while incorporating Henry David Thoreau's quote that is definitely one of my mantras!

Browsing through the Lomography website, you can find a lot of redscale shots, which are all done on color negative films. I asked myself if it’s possible to redscale a slide or chrome film and then cross process it. (And yes, it is.) In this tipster I’m going to teach you how to create the bloodiest homemade redscale film I've ever come across.
