Beta Site Will Be Read-Only For Some Hours Tomorrow Morning

28

As we are doing some nerdish stuff with our database tomorrow morning (starting at nine Central European Time) the whole Beta website will be read only for some hours. So you can still read all our articles, browse through our photos and all other people's homes, but won't be able to leave comments, submit stuff or enter competitions.

As we are doing some nerdish stuff with our database tomorrow morning (starting at nine Central European Time) the whole Beta website will be read only for some hours. So you can still read all our articles, browse through our photos and all other people’s homes, but won’t be able to leave comments, submit stuff or enter competitions.

The view from my desk, our programmers are sitting right behind the screen…

Right after that we will take the site offline for about fifteen minutes and launch with a new (and final) version of the beta site. Yes, we are in the final phase of our relaunch – the last weeks we’ve been going through the whole code again, added some features, tweaked the performance (yeah, we know, the site’s been a bit slow from time to time), worked in your feedback and polished everything. And we drank way too much coffee. At least me for sure. So the big day when Beta becomes Alpha – meaning beta.lomography.com replacing www.lomography.com – is coming real soon.

    Great, I'm looking forward to the change..! And btw. I don't think it is "when beta becomes alpha" as bear1973 wrote in the news - it is when beta becomes the final version (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle) (-;

    Do you really think that everything we want to do ist to share all the articles and photos in other social networks? Lomography IS a social network.
    I want to leave comments and to like photos. So please do me a favour and don't let the share tab stay on top all the time. Thats all from me. Besides that: good work!!! I love the beta site.
