Lomography Canada & OTM Zine Featured Photographer Othello Grey

Meet Toronto based photographer Othello Grey, who was one of the featured photographers of the Lomography Canada+OTM Zine photography exhibit DEPICT: T.O. at the Lomography Gallery Store Toronto!

Name: Othello Grey
Website/Blog: www.penelopemoon.blogspot.com

Describe your photographic style in one sentence:
The visual representation of a man’s desperate attempts to the capture the ephemeral.

How/when did you discover your passion for photography?
My passion for photography stems from my continual need to have moments of my past at my disposal. It’s always been my portal into myself. Throughout the course of the last year that entire idea has begun to mean a lot more to me and in turn so has photography.

Can you give us an insight into your creative process?
I’m directed by energy and feeling – I capture whatever sends a spark to a place deep within me. No thoughts of if it’s ‘right or wrong’, just adhering to a natural calling.

What do you love most about working as a photographer in Toronto? What do you love least?
I love the diversity – in people, structure, ambiance, etc. Every turn unleashes a new scene waiting to be taken and shared. There is nothing I don’t like. There is a plethora of beauty surrounding and it’s up to me to take advantage of it.

Dream photograph? (Style, composition, subject. Etc)
A collection – where I take a portrait a day of a person’s life from inception to demise.

Top 3 places to find inspiration in Toronto:
Wherever the energy surrounding takes me.

Why are you excited to be a part of the OTM+LOMO: DEPICT T.O. Show?
It’s thrilling to be given the opportunity to share my vision – especially so early in my journey into photography.
