Washington DC's Truckeroo

Started in June of this year, Truckeroo is Washington DC's summer and fall monthly food truck round up.

Truckeroo, the monthly summer and fall food truck event, is located at Das Bullpen – an outdoor beer garden set up in a former parking lot, across from the Navy Yard Metro stop (and next to Nationals Stadium). Generally, it takes place on the third Friday of every month between June and October of this year. Since this is the first year it has started, who knows how it will be brought back in the future. The best part is that they have extended the hours of Truckeroo, so it is now open from 11am to midnight. Plenty of time to stop in and grab some delicious food.

At Truckeroo, Over 25 different DC food trucks are represented. These include some of the city’s favorites such as TaKorean, Cap Mac, Pleasant Pops, and Dangerously Delicious Pies.

Additionally, there’s live music, games, and the beer garden is open and serving alcohol as well as lemonade and soda. If you’re of drinking age, showing an ID will get you a wristband, but people of all ages are invited. Some people even bring their dogs.

The best part is that it’s free! As it’s popularity has caught on, don’t be surprised if you have to wait in line to get in, and even longer lines once inside for some of the favorites. A trick I have is to buy a snack in a short line and eat it with friends while waiting in one of the longer lines. This comes in handy especially if you attend during peak evening hours (6pm – 10pm).

If you’d rather sit down and eat, there are plenty of picnic tables to sit on and eat at as well.

The last Truckeroo of the season will be October 28th and will be Halloween themed as TruckerBoo. I will be there with a few cameras in tow. It’s been such a success this year, it’s likely that they will bring it back again next summer!

Love Truckaroo, hate the liens for the Lobster Pound truck though.
