KLPF 2011 Analogue Perspective

My Recent KLPF 2011 Analogue Adventure thru my La Sardina Camera + Flitz the Blitz at Midvalley Convention Center!

The Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival is back! It’s Malaysia’s biggest and hottest imaging event with a combination of photography and travel elements. It is a gathering of the photography and travel fraternities with action packed programs. Easily accessible at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur. A three-day event from 7th to 9th of October 2011.

There was a big line up of who’s who, speakers like Assada Porananond, Gary Friedman, Steve Chong, Marshall Ho, Joanne Hooi , Sze Yan & Lean Lee, Mohd Azlan Mohd Latib, Raymond Wu, John Chong, etc… Even the market leaders of the photographic industry (Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Fuji, etc ) presented their latest innovations in technology and designs at KLPF2011 .

Any amateur or professional photographer will be tempted to come to the exhibition for latest technology, bargain or to just search for new inspiration!

I decided to use my recently bought La Sardina Camera with Fritz the Blitz Flash in tow thus attracting lots of curious onlookers and questions. Using 35mm Colour Negative Film ISO 400 plus on bulb setting. The Lomography booth was particularly interesting and attracted a lot of photographers, the booth was selling the latest cameras and accessorizes among the endless sea of humans. I even took the opportunity to purchase film from the booth and posed with friends that I met there! The Future is indeed Analogue!

The World According to Herr Willie: The Spirit of Jogja

It is the marvel of Java, the cultural center of Indonesia: Yogyakarta, or, as we assimilated locals call it, Jogja! Jogja is full of historic sites and exudes a very adventurous yet welcoming spirit. It is a true multireligious melting pot that has seen kings and sultans come and go, and religions introduced and either went or stayed. Time has been gentle on Jogja. It's one of my most favorite cities in Asia.

Doug DuBois on My Last Day at Seventeen

Doug DuBois spent five summers photographing the small neighborhood of Russell Heights in Ireland to capture the essence of coming of age: the inevitable loss of youth and the imminent transition into adulthood. Those four years resulted in his latest book, My Last Day At Seventeen. The book is a visual tale told through a collection of photographs and gives an alternative perspective through a comic narrative around the same subject. This creative combination of two distinct narratives in one book not only works wonderfully in visual terms; it also serves as an essential tool that lets the reader dig deeper into the story being told, making one go back to the book over and over again, yet from a new perspective, every single time.
