Elton John Kicking a Football While George Best Is Watching

3

This nice photo of Elton John, then part-owner of the Los Angeles Aztecs, kicking a football while George Best and some teammates watch was taken around 1976.

Two things I dig about this shot: Elton John’s glasses and George Best – my favorite quote of his is “I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.” – having different numbers on his shirt and shorts. Enjoy while listening to Rocket Man.

A Salute to the Masters: R.I.P. (A Tribute to George Krause)

This article is dedicated to the multifaceted American photographer George Krause and to his series depicting funeral monuments realized between 1962 and 1963. I was able to know about this series thanks to an important essay on photography written by former Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Director of Photography, John Szarkowski. For this tribute, I loaded my trusty Praktica camera with a roll of Ilford film and took a series of photos in the Monumental Cemetery in my city, Como. Take a look!

    Object of My Affection: Subbuteo

In my early adolescence, I liked to play table football. For my 12th birthday, my parents gifted me with a wonderful Subbuteo table soccer game set that I had wished for many months! This was my favorite toy until I discovered other interesting hobbies, like ham radio and electronics. So after some years, I gave away this game to other kids. I always remembered this game with pleasure and a hint of nostalgia.

The following photographs of University of Art and Design from the 1920s let us sit in on some of these busy classes.

A Salute to the Masters: D-Day in Como? (A Tribute to Robert Capa)

This article is dedicated to one of the most important masters of photography, Robert Capa. Capa is well known for his photos of war, from the famous image of the Republican Spanish soldier collapsing backwards after being fatally shot to his images taken in Indochina. He was also a co-founder of the famous Magnum Photo Agency, the first cooperative agency for freelance photographers worldwide. For this article, I took advantage of a rare event held in my city, Como, some weeks ago: a military drill for civil protection purposes.
