Theme: Animals!

Animals! There's so many of them, and we all like different ones! Which one is your favorite? Maybe it's in this crowd. Welcome to the petting zoo, but please be sure to bring some snacks for the little darlings.

Big, small, furry, curly, black, white, brown, grey!

So many different ones. Here’s my favorite animal:

First there’s Baby Gizmo, and his baby brother. Then there’s adult handsome Gizmo (my baby) and at the end is Mama Cat. She raised the two rugrats. They’re good boys though. Especially Gizmo, such a clever fella.

Moving up in size a bit, we have some sheeeeeeep!

Not mine, they live out in the countryside. Sheep are nice though. We were a member of a community farm years ago (and by that I mean my mom was a member and she dragged me and my brother out there even though we never wanted to be there) but once we got to see all the baby lambs being born, we thought that was pretty cool. It smelled pretty nasty but they were so cute! After a few days of course, because at first they were just slimy.

Prancer, Dancer, Billy, Lightning! Nah, I don’t know, I have no idea what all of Santa’s deers are called. I just know Rudolph the red-nosed one.

And then there are the big boys! The majestic ones of the bunch. I sometimes wish I lived in the countryside, in a nice big house, and had a horse that I could just take on a run! Feel the wind in my face and just relax from everything else. Connect with nature.

I wonder what I would call it? Something random. Like James. Or Olivia.

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.

The World According to Herr Willie: Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

Singapore, like Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, is a likely stopover when you fly far. The city is a tiny urbanized hub but it's very favorable if you know some high-spirited locals. I was lucky to hook up with king kimbo (@hakimbo), who showed me around. He took my lame limbs to the Gardens by the Bay, an amazing place which was visually striking. I was hugging some artificial trees there when I found a baby—a very big baby.

    Kyoto in a Heartbeat

Like a cluster of cherry blossoms, the temples in Kyoto can stop visitors in their tracks. These people assume the pose of a statue, a camera dangling from their neck and hands. On a first visit especially, the impulse to photograph every angle is constant. The Kinkaku-ji Temple and the torii-lined Fushimi Inari-Taisha are always packed; one would think the tourists would hurry along. But really, many are busy taking snatches of Kyoto with them.

Angela Izzo on Shooting with the Diana Mini, Photographing Musicians, and Then Some

While many of us can only dream of working with musicians and photographing them, Angela Izzo's job entails exactly that. Apparently, this is a fulfillment of her own dream that she had when she was younger. In this interview, Izzo talks about her beginnings which, of course, included going to as many shows and festivals as she possibly can; some of her most memorable on-the-job-experiences with the likes of The Doors, Lykke Li, Jack White, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Chris Robinson Brotherhood; her inspirations and other interests; and her love for film photography and Diana Mini. And to those looking into fulfilling their own dreams of working in the same industry, Izzo also shares helpful advice based on her own experiences.
