Have a relaxing moment at Tung Chung New Development Ferry Pier, Hong Kong! Enjoy the lovely scene of the sea and the sky by the waterfront with the autumn breeze blowing softly through your hair.
People and tourists usually go to Tung Chung to take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, or just to stop by on their way to the airport, Disneyland, or other attractions in Lantau Island, such as Tai O. But now, you may have another reason to go there, which is the Tung Chung New Development Ferry Pier.
I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at the pier. The scene of the sea and the sky by the waterfront was so lovely. With the breeze blowing softly, it made me realize that autumn is here.
Tung Chung New Development Ferry Pier is a ferry pier in Tung Chung, Lantau Island. Lantau Island is the largest island in Hong Kong. In the old days, it mainly consisted of fishing villages. But recently, it has been rapidly developed with several major infrastructure projects such as Hong Kong International Airport. Tung Chung is now a new town with numerous public and private housing estates.
The pier is on the Tung Chung Waterfront Road. It is In between the Tung Chung New Town and the airport, and situated just in front of the private estate, Seaview Crescent.
Not many people are familiar with it because only one ferry service is maintained between Tung Chung and Tai O now. Therefore, it is not a busy pier, but a quiet little pier where local people love to have a walk or go fishing there.
It is a quiet place where you can enjoy a walk by the seaside. You can see a part of the airport district in front of you, including the Asiaworld-expo, and the opposite side of the sea is Tung Muen.
Not very far away, you can see the buildings of some airline companies, such as Dragonair and CNAC.
It is a really nice place to appreciate the beautiful sky. Especially, around this time, the soft breeze is telling you that autumn is here.
How to get there:
Option 1: Take the MTR to Tung Chung Station, walk through the Tat Tung Road Garden, cross the bridge, the pier is along the waterfront.
Option 2: At the Tung Chung Station, take the citybus S56, get off at Tung Chung New Development Pier. (note: only some departures will detour via the pier)
