They say, “give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime Lomography and the international organization Light for the World are looking to do just that. ”. Get your hands on a LomoKikuyu book and teach a man to help others. With your help, we will be training future eye surgeons and fighting the famine in East Africa at the same time.
As Lomographers, we all know the importance of sight. How we perceive the world starts with what we see through the lens, the lens of our cameras and the lens of our eyes. Since 2006 Lomography has partnered with Light For The World to help the people of Kikuyu regain their vision. The project has already helped over 1,000 people.
Now, in 2011 and 2012 we want to make an even bigger change. We want to help educate future eye doctors so that they can use the knowledge and tools to help hundreds of more people. By providing fellowships for ophthalmologists in training as well as training programs for eye care professionals, Light for the World is working towards a brighter future for the people of Kenya. The program not only educates and trains professional eye doctors; it helps train teachers to spot early onset eye problems in children and adults.
Unfortunately, there are many problems facing Africa today. That’s why we have also decided to match your 5 EUR/USD to help fight the famine affecting East Africa today. All donations to help fight hunger will be sent to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
So, how does this work?
For every 5 EUR/USD you donate by buying a LomoKikuyu Book in our online shop, we will match your contribution with another 5 EUR/USD and send it to the International Committee of the Red Cross. to fight the famine in East Africa. So, your donation is working two fold!
How do I donate?
I want to donate, but I’m not purchasing anything in the shop!
No worries, you can by only the book, that’s 5 EUR/USD and will be matched!
I am really interested, where can I find out more?
