What does the number '8' mean for you? Does it conjure images of infinity, the number of legs a spider has, or something else? Mephisto19 picks the winner of his August Rumble!
For the August Rumble Winner I received 400 submissions, 400 photos to choose only ONE winner of 40 piggies, so enough piggies to get an Oktomat. Yes, an Oktomat – the eight lens camera to capture movement on regular 35mm films… The theme was “eight”, the number, the word (also in other languages,…), so you could do a lot.
I have to mention some more photos that almost made it…
The winner is sandkorn with her Perfekt Perfekt shot of a bike. Light, shadow, the infinity of the eight,… Such a beautiful shot. Congratulations!
So now everybody – grab your camera and start shooting for the next rumble…!
We had a huge response from this competition and quite rightly so, I mean who wouldn't want the chance to win a copy of the new Flying Lotus album? Anyway, we've picked our way through them all and chosen the best three. Find out who has won here.
There is nothing better than a photo shot at the perfect moment. Henri Cartier-Bresson's principle on "The Decisive Moment" is a principle that we should still follow to this day. A perfectly-timed photo creates impact, whether it's one of a friend jumping into the pool or a couple emerging from the ceremony on their wedding day. For this rumble, we want to see that breathtaking moment, shot at the perfect time. And you showed us what it's like to be on time.

Unfortunately, it happens sometimes that your resulting pictures are not what you expected - the image doesn't look that good, the colors are bland, and the subject is banal. Indeed, it couldn't be picture of the year! Herein I propose a second chance for your pictures by modifying your 35mm negatives. Just pick up some ideas from here, experiment, and scan your negatives with the Lomography Smartphone Scanner. Anything is possible: burning, scratching, putting on hydrochloric acid, balsamic vinegar, nail polish, bleach, or raspberry juice... use your imagination and write down your new film soup recipe! You can find a sample of the effects in this article.
There are things that artist Valeriie Liin can't leave the house without: her earphones, two notebooks, keys to her home in Taiwan, and a little color palette for painting. It's not always that she can paint, though, so for those times she turns to her cameras.
