As contenders for the Nixon Surf Challenge title confronted the swell and unforgiving weather in Kamchatka, Russia, we challenged you to show us what the ‘riding life’ is all about through your analogue photos. Nixon has announced the Surf Challenge winner – it’s time we announced ours.
Together with the Volkshotel in Amsterdam, Lomography Netherlands organized a rumble in line with Volkshotel's 24hrs project. The jury has decided and we now have the list of winners who will get to enjoy their very own Volkhotel experience.
We had a staggering 1110 entries to this rumble. We have picked our way through all of them and were very inspired by the quality of all your photos! It was a real challenge narrowing it down to just 3 winners. Find out who won this great competition.
I want to share with you my experience with some slides when I was in Russia. I'm very sorry for them because I messed them up. They're just ruined and they'll never be the same! But hey, I have thousands of them, so I guess it's not a big deal after all.
Here’s a random and rather mysterious tale for you folks. Just the other day, I was at a local bar with a few friends. It was much like any other evening; we were sipping a couple of cocktails, recounting our adventures, falling over ourselves with laughter and half-drunkenly meditating on the meaning of life (a scientist once told me it’s 42 by the way). But then something truly strange happened. Read on to hear my story and please make a comment with your guess at the end!
It is after childhood but before becoming full-blown adults, that we go through that confusing, tumultuous stage of being teenagers. And we thank all of you who joined this competition, and for letting us see the teenager in you.
